Griswald Christmas tree

For the first time EVER. I cut down my own Christmas tree (meaning of course that Wally cut it down and drug it to the truck.)We drove up Emigration Canyon almost to the scout camp and then drove up a little used and very rutted dirt road. Thanks Cody for letting us use his truck. The beast would not have made it.
After stopping at a couple different groves of trees we found the perfect 11 footer. I love my real Christmas tree. It's perfect in my living room. (more pic's to come)

Earlier that morning we met up with our good friends Blake and Sam who had a beautiful Saturday morning blessing of their new sweet baby Mckenna. They live in Cheyanne now so it was great to see them.

This is Wally with his kill. Wood Ducks. (They're rare in these parts you know)

And last but not least our little Mister Cole. This is what makes life worth living. He is so dang funny. He loves making us laugh and jumping around the corner to scare his dad. What a fun kid.

Let me just say two things:
1- I love that Wally is wearing a white shirt and tie with jeans and a slightly large belt buckle!
2- I love that you have an 11 ft. Christmas tree! It makes me happy. I'm pretty sure if I got a tree, it would have to be 6 feet in order to fit into my little house.

You're great!

I LOVE that you cut down your own christmas tree! Maybe one of these years we will have to go together and cut our own christmas tree's together! I decorated my christmas tree just the other day and I love LOVE LOVE! it. I am so excited to see you over Christmas!

I'll comment. I also get a warm fuzzy feeling when I read comments left on my blog. I love that you have a real tree. I REALLY wanted a real one this year, but I must be content with my cheezy $30 fake one that I got seven years ago. Sigh. I also love that yours is 11 feet tall. That would never fit in my house. BTW, I posted more new posts, so feel free to read them and comment some more. I love reading your blog and seeing what you're up to. I'd love to see you for real sometime.

I love that you were able to go cut a real tree- and a tall one too! We couldn't fit one that tall in our house. I bet it smells fantastic! Hopefully we'll see you at the family party after Christmas!

I want to cut a real tree down for Christmas one year. Matt's family does it every year and it seems like such a fun family tradition. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

Ten comments already!!!!! I've never had a live Christmas tree before. My Uncle had one once and I remember the pine smell and I touched it and got tree sap all over my hand. I think it would be fun to go pick out a tree with my family though! I like the picture of Cole with the tree and how is hood is covering his face. It looks like he is trying so hard to see what's going on :)

Love the story and pictures! I just watched National Lampoons Christmas Vacation over the weekend, so when I read about your Griswold Family Christmas Tree- I burst out laughing thinking of how big your tree would have to be to bust out of your windows.

I'm just wondering if you checked it thoroughly for squirrels.

We should go sledding. We could use that non-caloric silicon-based kitchen lubricant. I've heard it creates a surface 500 times more slippery than any cooking oil.

Wow! I can't wait to see the tree all decorated in your home. I hope you have enough ornaments to cover it!

I cannot believe you can fit an 11 foot tall tree in your house!!
I recently heard a story of a family who cut down a tree...only to find it was too tall. So they kept trimming and trimming until the tree was so small they had to buy a new one! Weird.
By the way, Cole is getting so big and looks like a great kid!
